5 Reasons To Be Excited About Cyberpunk 2077
For the last two decades the original Deus Ex was widely considered to be the pinnacle of cyberpunk RPGs, but this is about to change with the release of the latest game from CD Projekt Red – a polish developer and publisher that was behind the critically acclaimed Witcher series.
We are of course talking about Cyberpunk 2077 – arguably the most-awaited and ambitious game to be released in 2020! Here are five reasons to buy Cyberpunk 2077 GoG key and make preparations for the upcoming dystopian adventure teeming with visionary sci-fi themes and 1980s-inspired aesthetic style!
Definitive cyberpunk video game
The setting of the latest CD Projekt Red game utilizes all the classic tropes of the cyberpunk subgenre. In the past, we have had the chance to play great video games that took us to dystopian futures where cybernetic body modifications are the norm and megacorporations reign supreme – games like Deus Ex, Watch Dogs, Black Light Retribution or Oni.
However, no video game by far has come close to capturing the feeling of what it would be like to walk on the neon laden streets seen in Blade Runner, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, or any other of the cyberpunk cinema classics. Cyberpunk 2077 promises to deliver exactly that with its multi-layered and futuristic open-world called the Night City!
Story-rich campaign
Previous games from CD Projekt Red have enticed the players with epic storylines and memorable characters and there’s no reason to assume that Cyberpunk 2077 will be an exception. Just like the Witcher series was based on the intellectual property of Andrzej Sapkowski, so will Cyberpunk 2077 will be founded on a world created by another notable author – an illustrator and tabletop game designer Michael Pondsmith.
Unlike Sapkowski, Pondsmith actively participates in the development of Cyberpunk 2077 and serves as a guide to the writer team at CD Projekt Red. The plot of the game will center around a custom-made protagonist V – a cybernetically enhanced mercenary who’s after immortality granting microchip. An awesome thing to keep in mind is that as the player strolls through gang-infested city districts, abandoned highways of the Badlands and depths of cyberspace, the main character V will be accompanied by the digital ghost of Johnny Silverhand – a character embodied by Keanu Reeves!
A personal and customizable look
Cyberpunk 2077 is the type of RPG experience that attempts to grant the player with as much freedom as possible. The same principle is applied to character customization options characterized by staggering depth and detail. Protagonist V can be modified in the most intricate of ways to suit the vision of each individual player: specific body types, haircuts, and tattoos – all the cosmetic elements can be adjusted to meet a very specific appearance.
Customization is not limited to mere looks. In a proper cyberpunk fashion, V’s body can be upgraded with sick cyberware that matches specific playstyles. You can be a Terminator-like Solo, hacker type Netrunner, or a stealth utilizing cyberpunk ninja wielding a katana that can deflect bullets through an in-built magnetic field generator. Other than that, character-build is also shaped by an optional biography (just like in Mass Effect games) as well as a reputation system that provides different sets of advantages and disadvantages based on how people of the Night City view the main character V.
Not a game for children
With their latest project, CDPR is going full throttle, placing no creative restrictions on themselves which results in an experience reserved only for the oldest in the gamer audience. Cyberpunk 2077 is a no-holds-barred game when it comes to the themes it sets out to explore. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the game will contain graphic violence, especially considering this is an action RPG played from the first-person perspective and featuring a variety of ways to participate in FPS combat.
However, the aspect of the game that might catch a lot of players off-guard is the full-nudity. Throughout the in-game world V will encounter fully nude NPCs in a variety of contexts. CD Projekt Red won’t shy away from the gritty realities of dystopia by sometimes showing its inhabitants in the most vulnerable light. Of course, this feature of the game is also tied to the possibility of romance and intimate relationships – something that was also prevalent in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher games.
Amazing replay value
One of the major flaws many single-player RPGs suffer from is the absence of reasons to return to the game once the main campaign is over. This won’t be the case with Cyberpunk 2077. For example, the game features an extremely high number of ways to replay the main campaign, and every time the experience will be different. A unique side-quest system will add unprecedented weight to the in-game activities, as the side-missions will be able to influence the main story in significant ways!
Lastly, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature an abundance of mini-games and side-activities, one of the most notable of which will be illegal street racing! We’ll finally get a chance to play something akin to a cyberpunk-themed Need For Speed with futuristic cars and bikes. Racing aside, players of Cyberpunk 2077 can also look forward to a post-launch multiplayer mode that will be analogous to Rockstar’s GTA Online as well as massive DLC expansions similar to Hearts of Stone or Blood and Wine from The Witcher 3.
