Xbox One Price, Release Date Announced
The Microsoft Conference at E3 2013 is now over, and although there were some pretty fantastic announcements in there and plenty of gameplay, perhaps the most important thing announced were the Xbox One price and release date. While a little on the pricey side – especially after the last few weeks of controversy – the release date is far earlier than the rumours would have had us believe and is right in line with the rumoured release date of the PlayStation 4.
Xbox One will be available in November 2013 around the world in over 20 different territories, and will launch at $499, €499 and £429. That’s far more than many will be willing to buy into on a limb, although those wowed by tonight’s show will no doubt feel it’s an acceptable price (especially if they’re not interested in the PlayStation 4). Consoles and handhelds released in the last few years have all needed price drops to boost struggling sales – the Wii U, PlayStation Vita and 3DS have all fallen victim to that – so it’ll be interesting to see how they do.
At least they didn’t suggest anybody struggling to pay for one should get a second job.
