Huge Map Changes After CSGO Update – Dust 2 Skybox Opens

Recently, Valve announced CSGO latest updates in its maps for a better experience of gamers.

A lot of significant changes have been done including the much-debated ‘opening of skybox’ towards B site on Dust 2 and another near ivy on Train, alongside the bench in mid on Mirage. These updates were dropped on 29th January, and since then players and CSGO enthusiasts are all talking about the benefits or drawbacks of these upgrades.

With this blog, we’ll be discussing all the recent updates that were introduced on the map on 29th January and further share our opinion on the same.

Changes on Dust2

One of the most significant changes that were introduced to Dust 2 was the skybox.

A skybox from B hall towards the site was opened up, which will now be giving rise to a plethora of new angles to use utilities for perfect execution. In future, this might see a drop in the standard mid-split while giving the players something better than a B-rush.

With this skybox update in Dust 2, the teams can now throw grenades in the site B tunnels, which is sure to have a significant impact on those who want to protect the site.

Changes on Mirage

Coming to another map, a massive change was also introduced on Mirage.

On this map, a bench was introduced in mid to enable the players to peek catwalk while also allowing them to execute a solo boost into the window. Other significant changes on this map were widening of the T entrance to mid, addition of a wall bang spot from the palace to close corner on A site, and barring a jump-peek from middle of B site to catwalk.

Additionally, spectator x-ray settings have also been advanced, which will be improving the ability to draw boundaries around the bomb and drop defuse kits.

Changes on Train

Even on the Train, the skybox separating Ivy and A site have been opened up, along with other notable visual improvements and minor bug fixes. However, the opened skybox has become a key point of discussion here, as it will allow gradates to be thrown from the players on the T side of Ivy to the A location.

So, now the players can leverage more opportunities to pressure Ivy during an execution. Also, a full execution no longer will require three players outside T main, which means that a wrap through CT will be now a compelling option on T side.

Other Changes

FMPONE (Shawn Snelling), being one of the level designers has been continuously responsible for remaking of cache in the global offensive. He has continually been working to improve the visibility in the maps and has now also updated radar. As a relief to many, the cache changes will come up with few optimizations as well, that will help the map run better on all systems.

Further, Studio also saw a few small changes, with a bug fix to bomb damage, few clipping improvements and some visual tweaks for each side’s perspective of the map.

A quick overview of the changes

Train:

  • Opened up skybox overbuilding separating Ivy/A site
  • Various minor bug fixes
  • Numerous visibility improvements

Studio:

  • Clipping improvements
  • No damage from bomb detonation to fixed players
  • Numerous minor bug fixes
  • Improved visuals of CT/T streets

Cache:

  • Updated radar
  • Optimizations
  • Numerous visibility improvements
  • Various trivial bug fixes

Dust2:

  • Opened up skybox from B halls towards the site

Mirage:

  • Widened T entrance to mid
  • Added bench in mid allowing jump up to window boost spot/peek towards the cat
  • Added AWP wall bang spot from the palace to scaffolding close corner, A site
  • Barred a jump-peek from the middle of B-site towards the cat
  • Lowered trim around B site balcony

The changes in the game might look small in the list, but they are certainly going to impact the game tactics implemented by various team and players on these maps. New upgrades and updates will help in the development of the game, while some older ones will have been rendered useless. All in all, these changes are meaningful and might also bring a lot of fresh perspective in the game for the players on how they can effectively tackle various situations on these maps.
