PDP PS4 IR Receiver for Harmony Remotes

The IR Receiver for Logitech Harmony remote controls is a fantastic little product from Performance Design Products that allows your Harmony remote – no matter how cheap or how expensive – to easily interface with your PS4 device. In a world of multiple devices, and multiple remotes and controllers, it’s nice to program yet another device to work from my Harmony!

I’ve always appreciated the fantastic products put out by PDP, and this one is no different. The device is incredibly small, and easily connects to the PS4 via micro USB to USB 2.0. A small power cord runs from the receiver to the wall socket, to power the device.

Syncing the remote to the PS4 was incredibly easy to do, and only took a few minutes. The biggest issue I had with the device was making sure there was always a direct line of sight between the receiver and remote; in a house with young kids, too often things are placed around the receiver, drastically reducing the effectiveness of the remote. Even when partially obstructed, often times inputs from the remote wouldn’t register.

When unobstructed, however, having this device connected to my PS4 streamlined by entertainment viewing. Not having multiple controllers laying out as I jumped from Netflix to Cable TV was fantastic, and being able to turn my PS4 on and off without the need for my DualShock controller was also outstanding. So often I take my DualShock off the charge pad to watch Netflix, forget to return it, and run into battery issues; not anymore, thanks to PDP and the Harmony receiver.
