More Thoughts From Me #85: Holding Out My ARMS
Ever since I played the ARMS testpunch, I’ve wanted to play more of the game. Adam Roffel, editor-in-chief of GamesReviews.com, knew this and decided to send me a copy of the game. I got it in the mail yesterday and was able to play the game a bit more. Here are some more thoughts on ARMS for Nintendo Switch.
I like the motion controls on ARMS a lot but this time around, I played the game with button controls. I’m definitly still a fun of the motion over buttons with this game, however I had a good time playing ARMS last night.
I had never played the Grand Prix mode in ARMS before. It was not available in the testpunch. So I picked a character and dug into the mode. You had to defeat 10 different characters in this mode. To add variety to that, there were some mini-games like Volleyball and Basketball mixed in. I didn’t really care for the Volleyball one but the Basketball one was a blast.
The button controls in ARMS seemed easier than the motion controls and it was all too easy to spam moves like the one where you grab the other player and throw them. I used that move a lot. It especially came in handy on the level where you slam dunk the other character into a basketball hoop!
As for the fights, well, I did have this mode set on very easy, so I had no trouble beating all 10 fights. I’ll have to try a harder mode next time. This single player mode was fun though I think I’ll mostly be playing ARMS online. There’s just something really cool (and of course much harder) about playing online.
ARMS is a fun game whether you play with the button controls or motion. I do prefer the motion and oddly enough I like the work out I get from this game. I see myself playing ARMS online whenever I have time!
What do you think about ARMS? Do you prefer its single player or multi-player modes?
