Assassins Creed Origins: A Living World
The team at Ubisoft Montreal behind the newest Assassin’s Creed title have been hard at work putting together the world of Egypt. Ever since the release of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag over four years ago, this specific team have putting the world of Egypt through its paces, and creating new systems that are unique to this franchise. Assassin’s Creed Origins is the perfect installment after a year hiatus, and we are detailing why with an article every day about the game between 9/11 – 9/15!
In an interview with IGN, Ashraf Ismail stated that building a gigantic open world wasn’t going to have the impact on fans if it was empty, so for the last four years, he said, the teams been filling it with things to do.
Every nook and cranny of Egypt will beg to be explored, and Ismail noted that you will always be rewarded for entering caves you find, or my rooting around cities for hidden areas and passage ways. With the new combat system – another great team achievement according to Ismail – finding unique, rare, and powerful weapons will be very important; some of these items can be found by straying away from specific quests and just exploring.
The World of Assassin‘s Creed Origins is also very alive, with every NPC having a daily routine that they will follow, in some cases, dependant on weather. This not only makes for a more interesting world – with people doing jobs you’d expect of early Ancient Egypt – but also makes finding and dealing with targets more intriguing. There is no longer a set path to hitting a quest target; now players have options, whether to take out a general as he walks a patrol in the dessert, or by infiltrating the army encampment and dealing with him while he sleeps. While the options aren’t endless, they are definitely varied, making the game progression of Assassin‘s Creed Origins the most fluid the series has ever seen.
We will have a lot more in Assassin‘s Creed Origins as we move toward s launch day, and a full review of the title around then as well!
