Team Kirby Clash Deluxe First Impressions
I have mixed feelings about free-to-play (or free-to-start) games. On the surface, the idea is interesting: free to download games that you can play and if you like, you can buy more levels or items for the games. But the main problem with free-to-start games is that usually the games are too simple and/or just not that fun. I’m including Nintendo in this because I didn’t think the free-to-start Pokémon games nor Steel Diver were that good. However, if anyone is going to make a really good free-to-start game, I’d place my money on Nintendo. Their newest stab at free-to-start is Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and it came out yesterday. Is the game any good? Here are my first impressions of it.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is a free-to-start game. You can download it for free and play it as much as you want. Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is a full game, not a demo, and the additional content as far as I can see is just that you can buy extra Gem Apples if you want. Gem Apples will help you unlock levels and buy new items. So far, the Apples seem plentiful without having to buy any though. What about the gameplay? Is Team Kirby Clash Deluxe fun?
I won’t beat around the bush: Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is a blast! The main part of the gameplay is a fighting game. Kirby and his Kirby A.I. pals go into different levels to beat up huge enemies. More levels are unlocked as you progress. The game’s controls are simple but very fun. Clash Deluxe even has excellent 3D! If Team Kirby Clash Deluxe was just a fighting game, it would be a very good. However, what makes this Kirby game even better than the usual fighting game is that it has RPG elements.
With each enemy you fight, Kirby gains experience and can eventually level up. There are also new weapons, armor, and support items (attack potions, etc) to buy at a store with in-game currency. Not only that but there are four different jobs that Kirby can take on: Hero, Warrior, Healer, and Mage. Each of these classes have their own weapons and armor. Right now, the Hero with the sword is my favorite of the classes. I will eventually try the other classes more and see if I get into them or not.
The RPG elements in Team Kirby Clash add a lot of depth to the game! Oh and have a mentioned that you can play local multiplayer with someone else who has a 3DS and the game?
Up to four players with their own 3DS systems and Team Kirby Clash Deluxe can play together locally. I played two-player locally last night and it was a lot of fun. Don’t get me wrong, the computer A.I in Kirby Clash is good and they really help you in battles! That said, its a lot of fun playing local multiplayer with someone. From the single player to the multiplayer, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is a really good game.
Nintendo could have easily charged money for this Kirby game. People would have bought it. Instead, every 3DS owner can download a really good free-to-start game right now.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is currently available on the 3DS eshop. Why are you still reading this article?! Go get it!
