Comment Sections on New Reviews Should be Closed

uncharted4

Eight out of ten. How dare they! I’ve seen a few Uncharted 4 reviews pop up with scored of 80%, 8/10, 80/100 – however you want to quantify it. And the comment sections lit up.

“You guys are idiots” or “You reviewer doesn’t know anything” or even worse – not sure if it has happened on Uncharted but I’ve seen it – “You should go kill yourself.”

Comment sections on reviews should not exist, at least not prior to the game actually launching. News flash: they have played it, and you have not.

Comments from individuals who have yet to play the game are fairly irrelevant. Lets face it, people commenting generally have not played the game. Although we do plenty of pre-release reviews, I’ve never encountered another reviewer commenting on our articles. I basically just does not happen. So whats the point of lashing out at a reviewer and questioning his opinion? I didn’t realize that games had to follow a specific person’s opinion, or conform to the norm. Unless he or she is way off the deep end with comments that are easily refutable, what is the damn point?

Sometimes, reviewers have it wrong, and I can admit that as a reviewer. If I saw an Uncharted 4 review with a score lower than six, I would assume something is wrong. But I think I have that right, because I have played it. Most people haven’t, so even lashing out at a 6/10 review is still odd to me.

Let’s face it commenter, you have not played the game yet. Just because IGN or Gamespot says the game is a 10, does not mean everyone has to. Frankly, wait for the game to launch, and the Uncharted 4 vs Rise of the Tomb Raider commentaries will be so abundant, that Internet trolls will have a heyday!

It’s an opinion people, and one that shouldn’t affect you. This is the type of game where the review probably do not matter to those purchasing within the first few days, weeks, or even months. The hype for this is so unreal that you already know whether you are purchasing the game or not.

So why complain? Why get upset about someone’s opinion. Perhaps it’s a problem with the gaming community, but I think it is probably a problem with society in general.

“Your opinion is valid and permissible as long as it conforms to my thoughts and beliefs. If it does not, you are an idiot.”
