A Grand Adventure Awaits in Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale
I’ve never played a Story of Seasons game before. I have played several of the Harvest Moons and one of the Rune Factory games though. So I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started up Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale for the 3DS. Would it be like Harvest Moon or Rune Factory?
Return of PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale is an RPG first and foremost. The game does have a farming element, much like Harvest Moon or Rune Factory, but that is not the focus of this game. Instead, farming feels like an extra element, sort of like a mini-game. The farming can be fun and it does make you a lot of money though (and I’m happy that there is no stamina bar while farming. Whew). But farming definitely isn’t the focus of this Story of Seasons game.
The game starts out slow, but as you can gain your farm and get further into the story, there’s a lot more to do. PopoloCrois is a traditional turn-based rpg, so there are random battles. Your farm and some other towns are safe places with no random battles! Once you get out in the field, you’ll be hit with a lot of random battles. If you don’t like random battles, you should stay away from this game. Personally, I love traditional rpgs with random battles. And not only that, but PopoloCrois has a good battle system!
I wasn’t sure about the battle system in this game at first. PopoloCrois is turn-based but you can move your characters around and then select attack or whatever else when your close to the enemy. I wasn’t sure if I liked that, but now I find it very addictive. There is a lot of strategy in this battle system. PopoloCrois may not be the hardest turn-based rpg out there, but you still need to be careful and place your characters right. You have a lot of skills to unlock and all of the characters available have cool powers. Overall, with the combination of rpg adventuring and farming, Return to PopoloCrois is a fun game!
I wouldn’t say this Story of Seasons was the best rpg I’ve ever played, but I have enjoyed it a lot so far. I think some people may find it too easy but I like its laid back rpg charm mixed farming. If your new to rpgs or you just want something fun to play, then you should check out this game. That’s not to say there are no hard parts in this game because there is some but overall its pretty easy. Also, I have to mention that I really like the game’s story. As you get further into the game, the story becomes a little bit more complex and mysterious. The game has very nice graphics too!
Though, you shouldn’t expect a Harvest Moon or Rune Factory game here. This Story of Seasons game has some similarities to those games, but not much. Still, the game is worth a download if your fan of rpgs and sims and want something thats fun!
