Nintendo Comment on Best Buy Smash Bros Success

Super Smash Brothers is one of the biggest games of the year, and Nintendo knew that a lot of people wanted to play it. For that reason, they decided not to limit the brand new demo just to E3 attendees, but struck a deal with Best Buy so that people could play their latest brawler across the United States and beyond. The good news? Tens of thousands of people took up the chance to check it out. It was so successful that they’ll be considering doing the same with future titles.

Adam Roffel reached out Nintendo of Canada to get a comment on how the promotion had paid off. While the

Nintendo of Canada had over 8,000 people attend these events across the country, we are very pleased to have seen so many Super Smash Bros. fans come out.  We had line-ups of people cheering and lots of people showed up in costume and with their Nintendo portable systems.  Tons of StreetPassing was happening and we heard that some fans actually went in line a second time or came back the second day to play again.  We at Nintendo are thrilled to have so many fans get so pumped about this game.  So for that we are very thankful.

That wasn’t all. From Adam’s article:

When asked if Nintendo would consider more events such as this outside E3, Ryan said definitely; he cited the Mario Kart events hosted by Best Buy early this year as an example of what they could do in the future.

So there you have it. Smash Brothers is looking great, and Nintendo plan to get their games out to non-Wii U owners and fans in the future.
