Dark Souls is June’s free game on Xbox Live!
For the past year (and a bit), Microsoft has offered an incentive for Xbox users to sign up to Xbox Live Gold by offering a monthly free game to all those with a Gold subscription. Obviously this is a clever move by Microsoft, as not only is it a good way to advertise, but also a fantastic way to make consumers spend more money on additional DLC and game content offered on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Games offered as part of this incentive just keep getting better, from Dead Rising 2 to last months free game Saints Row: The Third.
Once again gamers are treated with another highly renowned game, being none other than the torturous but incredibly rewarding dark fantasy RPG, Dark Souls.
Followers of the Souls series would no doubt inform you that this game is the better of the two currently on last generation consoles (including recent PC ports), and I would agree it is one you should no doubt pick up for free while you can.
From Bandai Namco’s official product website:
“Dark Souls is a brand new action RPG (role playing game) set in a rich, dark fantasy universe. Tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and groundbreaking online features combine for a truly unique RPG experience. Dark Souls breaks down barriers with a seamless world design that encourages exploration and fosters an adaptable gameplay experience. As players encounter terrifying enemies and discover new areas, the unerring foundation of challenge and reward permeates to offer an unparalleled sense of achievement.”

Dark Souls is out now on Xbox 360 (free!), PS3, and PC.
