PS4 Updated to 1.62

The PlayStation 4 has received another big update today, although that’s big as in size, not content. The firmware jump to 1.62 weighs in at over 300MBs, a size that would have encompassed a whole game at one point, but now does little but fixes some software issues. Still, it shouldn’t be a big problem for the majority of PS4 owners, and the added stability is never a bad thing.

The official word is that 1.62 is all about improving what’s already there, and it doesn’t seem anybody has found anything to indicate otherwise.

Operation quality during use of some PlayStation 4 software has been improved.

Thankfully, the update isn’t without merit. Some reports seem to indicated that common issues have since been sorted. That’s kind of the least you’d expect from a minor firmware update though. Whether it’s fixed the issue for everybody, or if it’s introduced new problems to the mix, has yet to be seen.

Another positive is that this is an optional update. If you leave your console on standby and have the feature activated, the update will download automatically. Otherwise, you can grab it as and when you want, or as the next firmware update is released. Even so, it might be worth your time to download 1.62, as we’re not sure what is included for sure.
