Unreal 4 Games to be “Everywhere By Christmas”
The new-gen has been slowly building up over the last few months, largely with multi-gen games and indie offerings filling the gaps between big releases. It’s surprising that some of these releases are still running on the Unreal Engine 3, but it won’t be long until the next iteration of that engine takes to the forefront and starts showing off its new abilities.
From Edge, in an interview with Mike Gamble:
There haven’t really been any announcements of the games still under wraps [that use UE4]. As soon as they start going live, then you’ll see suddenly see that we’re everywhere again. You’ll be thoroughly sick of us!
It’ll happen this year, toward the Christmas period.
Knowing the games that are in development, there are some crackers. The first quarter of 2015 is also where a lot of them seem to be aiming.
Don’t worry though – it won’t just be current Unreal-powered games making the jump to new-gen machines. Gamble claimed that around half of the games in developed for the engine will be brand new IPs. Secretly, the more exciting announcement there is that there’s a load of sequels coming for a new engine (including Gears of War and Batman, if the rumours are to be believed).
Unreal Engine 4 was revealed last year.
