UK PS4 Launch Should be Smoother than US Launch
Was going to pick up a PlayStation 4 but suddenly felt a little nervous after hearing nightmare stories from the US launch? Don’t worry. Sony UK boss Fergal Gara today revealed that they’ve used the small gap between the UK and US launches to fix some of the issues the system had over the pond.
That’s not got them feeling to cocky though. From Eurogamer:
Any gamer who’s disappointed is a problem we take seriously. We are looking into causes of those low level problems – and there are certain learnings that have already been taken which means we can potentially further reduce that low level down to as close to zero as we can possibly get it.
But let’s be clear: the failure rate on PS4 is well within the region we see on PS3, which is considered a pretty bullet-proof machine. There is no evidence there to cause panic either for us or for gamers having any lack of confidence in picking up a PS4.
I have to say – as somebody who will be patiently waiting for their Amazon package tomorrow – that I no longer feel too bad about having to wait the three weeks between the two launches. Hopefully all will go well, but, if not, we’re just another line of beta testers for the countries where the PS4 is still unavailable.
