It's hard to really gauge the popularity of specific LEGO sets because so many are produced for consumption. Sure, in unique scenarios, very specific sets sell out, and they sell out quickly. Think about the $800+ LEGO Millennium Falcon, for example. But LEGO Super Mario has always been available, with a few sets going out of stock early on, only to be plentiful now.
