Current AC: Unity Build Suffers from Slowdown
Early reports indicate that the current demo build of Assassin’s Creed: Unity suffers from frame rate issues on Xbox One.
Despite it being only a matter of weeks until release, the current show floor version of the latest in the blockbuster franchise seems to have problems with slowdown that happen rather frequently.
From Neogaf member Jindrax, who played the Xbox One version of Unity at FACTS 2014 in Belgium:
But the game did dip under 30 fps frequently :S. Like every time I entered or exited combat, if I did some crazy free running stuff. But yeah, it wasn’t the final version, the ubisoft guy kept pointing that out.
But to be honest it didn’t take away from the experience, the scope of this game is insane. That first time I climbed and saw the city rendered as far as I could see I was really awe struck.
The “final version” part is especially important, as it’s not unusual for a demo build to be several weeks, if not several months, out of date. Still, it might be an indicator that we should wait and see just how Unity fares post-release before shelling out day one, especially if this is something that’s still in the process of being fixed and could be added via an early patch.
