Google Conference Shows Off Exciting New Devices
Two new devices were shown off at the latest Google conference, and both are heading to Canada. The previously announced Google Home Hub – not available in Canada until now under the new Google Nest Hub name – and the Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL are soon to be available, and we have all the details.
Google Nest Hub
The 7-inch Google Nest Hub is large enough to enjoy all your favourite YouTube and picture content while working away, and small enough to easily work into your desired environment, whether on your nightstand or in your kitchen. This beautiful device acts like a Google Home, but provides you a screen for more features and more control.
The biggest bonus we are looking forward to is using Google Assistant for visual needs, such as the family calendar, pictures from a vacation, or even what the weather is like. For those who don’t own a Google screened device – such as the Google Pixelbook, Google Pixel Slate, or a Google phone – and have only used the Google Home or Google Home Mini, this will be an even better feature, one that will get a lot of use we believe.
One of the cooler features my wife and I will enjoy is the ability to call up recipes without actually touching the device. In many situations, we have had our hands covered in chicken guts, and had to wash up just to dig out our phones and find the recipe we want. Now, we can continue to work with the chicken and get the recipe we want, all without wasting valuable preparation time!
And like all Google products, the Nest Hub will integrate nicely with all the other Google devices, and other compatible devices, giving you all the control in one, easy viewable place.
Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL
When we originally reviewed the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL, we were incredibly impressed with Google’s third smart phone, and argued it had the best camera on the market at the time of release. The Night Sight feature was especially helpful, which we put to full use while on vacation at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Flordia.
The 3a and 3a XL represents a downgrade from the previously released Google Pixel 3, in order to pull more users into the Google environment with a cheaper and more attractive smart phone. This is common practice within the industry, so this really comes as no surprise.
To get to that lower price, a slower processer is being used in this device as compared to the 3 and 3 XL, the phone will not be water resistant, and wireless charging has been removed, which will be a bummer for those looking to add another phone into their family – as we are looking to do – and own one of the amazing Google Wireless Charging Docks.
But what the Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL have going for them is a fantastic camera. By all accounts so far – we have not tried the device yet – the camera in this iteration of the phone is as good as the one in the Google Pixel 3, which makes this the perfect smart phone for anyone looking to settle on a mid-range priced phone. At less than $650.00 it packs a ton of punch for the price!
We hope to have more on both devices in the near future, including reviews, so stay tuned to GamesReviews.com!
