The Value of the Elite Pokemon Trainer Box

Over the last month, I have become very invested in the Pokemon Trading Card Game, both the physical game and the online version which I play on my iPad. I’m having an outstanding time, and purchased a few of the Elite Trainer Boxes that released earlier this year.

Value in the Box

For 39.99 CAD, the price we paid at 401games.ca in Canada, you received a box that included,

  • 8, ten card booster packs, with a code for a free digital pack in the online game.
  • Damage dice.
  • 45 energy cards (including Steel, fairy, etc.)
  • Status markers for burns and poison.
  • 65 sleeves with box artwork
  • Colour guide for the specific Pokemon set
  • A storage box that holds up to 550 cards

In Canada, this is an extreme value, especially if you note that a 10 card booster pack costs around 6 dollars. You make your money back purchasing this box in the 8 booster packs alone, making everything else in the box, gravy.

And it appears as if the pulls we got from each box were pretty good. Although we have seen some outstanding cards come out of these boxes, I would characterize both boxes as being, ‘OK.’ And frankly, there is nothing wrong with that, especially if you go back to look at the general value of the box itself.

Below you can see various pictures from our unboxing, including some of the Pokemon we pulled from the packs. We are hoping to unbox more of these in the near future. With this as a introduction article for those unfamiliar with Elite Trainer Boxes, our future box reviews will focus more on the cards inside.
